We’re happy to announce new licensing options and support policies that we hope will better align with our customer’s needs and allow for more users to start using and continue using our products. We hope that these changes make it easier to purchase our software, try it out for yourselves and support questions, issues and feature requests.
We are now offering both business and individual subscriptions.
If you are a business or organization, you can now purchase floating licenses for PowerShell Pro Tools that you can use within your organization. These are concurrent user licenses and can be transferred from one user to another within your organization as long as the license is being used by only one of the users. PowerShell Universal licenses will continue to be licensed per server. All business licenses still include maintenance and support for the term of your subscription.
If you are an individual purchasing the license for yourself, you can buy it at a discounted rate in comparison to the business license. These licenses are tied to you as an individual. PowerShell Pro Tools licenses can be installed on any number of machines as long as you are the user of that license. PowerShell Universal licenses are still per server. Individual licenses include maintenance and community support via our forums.
For a full comparison, please visit out License Comparison page.
We are no longer offering standalone perpetual licenses. That said, all yearly subscriptions include a perpetual fallback license. This means that if you choose to no longer renew your subscription, you can download your perpetual fallback license and use versions of the software that were released during your subscription term.
You can read more about perpetual fallback licenses here.
We will no longer be offering PowerShell Universal Lite subscriptions. Read the Existing License Holders section below if you currently hold a subscription. We are instead offering PowerShell Universal Individual Subscriptions that provide all the functionality of PowerShell Universal without any limitations. You can create as many APIs, run as many jobs and have as many concurrent users as you like.
If you are an existing license holder, you can see how these changes will affect you below.
Your existing license terms will be maintained as long as you maintain your subscription.

We are encouraging users to migrate to PowerShell Universal but if you wish to renew your Universal Dashboard license, you can contact us. UD will be receiving only security fixes and limited support going forward.
In an effort to better organize and enhance our product support, we are making some changes.
Going forward, we will be encouraging all users, even those with support agreements, to use the community forums as the first destination for support questions. We are seeing a huge influx in new support tickets that are very similar and by using the forums, we can help diagnosis and answer questions in a way that is beneficial to all users. We will be focusing our support efforts to ensure that threads opened on the forums meet resolution.
You’ll still be able to email us directly to provide sensitive information that should not be posted publicly. If you would like someone from Ironman Software to look at your thread, feel free to mention the @support group.
We will continue to offer email support to customers with licenses that include support. We will continue to provide a 9-5 business hour email support in the United States with a response of 24 hours. We will be limiting the number of support tickets that are opened in this manner to four (4) per quarter with a maximum of twelve (12) a year. These cases will include as-needed phone and screen sharing support and will only be considered used once the support ticket is resolved.
If you require a higher level of support, please contact us.
We have had some interest in email support for personal licenses. This is primarily attractive to contractors that are building solutions for clients. We are considering providing a support package for personal licenses but would like to hear more feedback from our users.
Please contact us if this is something you’d be interested in.
Many support tickets result in the opening of an issue or feature request. Our issue trackers have been merged into a single repository so it’s easier to locate and track tickets. Issues that are the result of customer requests, will be created in this repository so that you can easily track the progress and communicate with developers on the issue.
You are free to open an issue within the repository. Please read the README to understand what we will need when you open a ticket. Please search for existing tickets before opening a new one.
The Discord channel will not be actively moderated by Ironman Software support. You are welcome to use the channel to network with other users but we prefer the forums for interacting with our team.
These changes do not require an upgrade in any software. All software will continue to work with the new licensing options.
Please contact us with any questions you may have about the changes.
